Husband and wife team, Eleanor Meynell and Lawrence Wallington, founded Opera That's Nice! in 2018 to provide flexible and relaxed entertainment for private and corporate parties. From their wide net of singing friends and colleagues, they invite professional guests to join them to form all possible variations of ensembles, from duets and trios to quartets.

Lawrence Wallington

Bass – Baritone

An Oxford graduate in modern languages and then of the Royal Academy of Music,
Lawrence mixes performing in opera (most recently Germont Père La Traviata in Sicily) and
oratorio (Messiah in Ireland, 2019 ) and is proud to have participated at the heart of the
nation’s worship and pageantry as a Lay Vicar at Westminster Abbey. In addition he tours
the world’s concert halls and opera houses in John Eliot Gardiner’s Monteverdi Choir

(shortly pre-lockdown they performed Beethoven 9 in Carnegie Hall, NY). His recordings
include Jupiter: Rameau Castor et Pollux (Erato), Tavener Akathist (BBC), Purcell Dioclesian
under Trevor Pinnock, and Berlioz L’Enfance du Christ for BBC NOW. He also enjoys putting
his linguistic skills to good use managing cultural tours abroad.

Eleanor Meynell

Soprano

Originally trained as a pianist, Eleanor was inspired to study singing after performing Pierrot Lunaire with Daniel Harding and Simon Rattle and has since pursued a joint career as both singer and pianist at international level.  She met Lawrence while dancing on stage at the Opéra Comique in Paris with the Monteverdi Choir for whom she has sung for many years singing in all the major concert halls and opera houses in Europe and the USA. Eleanor was a full-time member of the BBC Singers with whom she broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and appeared regularly on TV at the BBC Proms.
